Chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the treatment of mesothelioma

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment of pleural mesothelioma treatment should be considered in case of late stage cancer, which is likely to benefit from surgical pleural mesothelioma or other parts of the body such as the abdomen and the other parts of the body (metastasis) due to the spread.


Chemotherapy for the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma:


This is the most common treatment for pleural mesothelioma, such as most of the patients with pleural mesothelioma is treated, although surgery and chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy is used in the management of pleural mesothelioma. Chemotherapy is used in the late stage of the disease, when the surgery has little or no effect on pleural mesothelioma due to distant parts of the body in the treatment of the spread of the disease. Multiple chemotherapeutic agents, that are useful in the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma, but the presence of the USFDA (food and Drug Administration) approved only for use with Cisplatin pleural mesothelioma with Alimta. Other chemotherapeutic agents are not approved by the USFDA for treatment of pleural mesothelioma. Chemotherapeutic agents to be processed is more than one clinical research to determine these chemotherapeutic agents such as Gemcitabine, Navelbine in the treatment of pleural mesothelioma.


Radiotherapy in the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma:


Radiotherapy or radiation, cell therapy is also a commonly used modality in the treatment of pleural mesothelioma than other forms, especially in the late stage of cancer treatment. Usually used in combination with radiotherapy or chemotherapy, or surgery to both pleural mesothelioma the best result. External beam radiation to the tumor cells in the body is used to cause a mutation in the growth and slow down and spread.
